Looking for City and Colour chords? You came to the right place! City and Colour is the stage name of the Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green. Born in 1980 in St. Catharines, Ontario, he started playing the piano when he was eight years old and already wrote his first songs during his high school years. Green’s first musical project consisted of the three-member band Helicon Blue. Although they recorded several songs, they soon broke up and Green formed another band, Alexisonfire, in 2001. The post-hardcore group was a success, with each of their four albums earning platinum certification in Canada. Nevertheless, they disbanded in 2011, as Green decided to dedicate himself full-time to his solo career, its potential had grown so large he could no longer ignore it.

Successful debut

Being reluctant to perform under his own name, Dallas Green chose to use the name City (Dallas) and Colour (Green) for his solo project. After initially uploading several songs to the internet for fans to listen to, Green decided to compile and rewrite a bunch of them and release it as a full-length album, Sometimes, issued in 2005. With Green accompanying his singing by acoustically played chords, City and Colour’s debut album is a classic singer-songwriter record. It was also successful, reaching platinum status in 2006 and winning the 2007 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. After releasing a live album, Colour and City Live, in 2007, Green issued his second studio album in 2008, Bring Me Your Love. With the addition of several instruments like the banjo and harmonica, the record featured a more folk-influenced sound. In addition, the album contains collaborations with other musicians, including members of The Tragically Hip and Attack in Black.

More albums

Dallas Green continued to record new music and his third album, Little Hell, released in 2011, became his first to top the Canadian charts. A fourth album The Hurry and the Harm, arrived in 2013 and, like its predecessor, also reached number one. The next year, Green would collaborate with popstar P!nk. Performing under the name You+Me, they released the album rose ave., which, again, topped the charts in Canada. Another solo album, If I Should Go Before You, followed in 2015, before treating his fans to a second live album, Guide Me Back Home, which hit the shelves in 2018. Dallas Green was to experience one of the highlights of his musical career during 2019, when he had the honor of opening for and performing on stage with the band Alice in Chains. As a child, the first record he ever bought was an Alice in Chains album and he had always cited them as being his biggest influence. Also, that same year, Green released his sixth studio album, A Pill for Loneliness. Featuring darker-themed lyrics, heavenly sounds and lush chords, City and Colour shows he is willing to evolve his music and keep things interesting for his followers.
