Beats will be pumping throughout the Dutch capital this week, as the annual Amsterdam Dance Event is getting into full swing. And with so much going on, you’d wish you could be at five places simultaneously. And there’s always that nagging feeling in the back of your head that you’re missing out on something truly great. To make sure you can dance your socks off without worrying about any of that, we’re highlighting a couple of ADE events we think are really worth checking out. listeningsession by Jesaja Hizkia copyright Sonos So here it goes… drum roll! Go check out the Sonos Studio Listening Party (picture by Jesaja Hizkia). It’s a combination of musical food for thought as well as something to move them feet to when the bass drops! Meet with artists, listen to their music and learn about the people and scenes that shaped them and the sound of electronic music today. DerrickMay-1_copyright Kate Vredevoogd Derrick May, Seth Troxler and many more The lifeblood of electronic music is the richness of its creative talent. The people who dare to stand out, forge new sounds and shape the future of music. And to celebrate, discuss and explore groundbreaking electronic music of past and present, the people from Sonos started Sonos Studio back in 2012. They’ve set up shop in Los Angeles and London and this is their second time around in Amsterdam. So what can you expect? For one, if you love techno, it’s your big chance to meet the godfather and one of the pioneers of the genre: Mr. Derrick May (picture by Kate Vredevoogd). If you’re a huge techno fan, you’ll probably know the groundwork for the whole genre comes from Detroit and more specifically this guy, when he was part of the Belleville Three. And what’s even better, you’ll be able to hear him talking and listen to his songs up close and personal, in a very intimate setting. And, keeping in tune with the whole Detroit theme, be sure to check out Seth Troxler doing a set on Saturday too! Listen to the greats at the Mayer Manor venue, and not just their music, but also listen to their vision and ideas about electronic music. Check out the stellar lineup here on the Sonos Studio Facebook page.
