Journey join the top 10 with a classic cut
One of the new entries in the top 10 songs of October is an eternal karaoke classic. We’re talking, of course, about Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’. The anthemic power ballad was released back in 1981 but had a resurgence in popular culture from the mid 2000’s onwards, introducing the song to a new generation.
It remains a classic track in 2023. There’s a great chord progression for piano which features interesting movement and voicings, so it’s a good one to practice for intermediate players and a nice challenge for beginners.

Liars bring alternative, stripped back vibes
A new entry in the top 10 songs of the October is Australian-American band Liars, with their track Who Is The Hunter. This is quite different to the rest of this month’s list, featuring a simple, stripped back electronic sound and soft vocals with an alternative/indie rock influence. It starts with a quiet, minimalistic beginning, gradually adding instrumentation from different samples and building up to a climax.
This track brings some nice variation to the top 10 songs of the month, and it also features an interesting chord progression which is simultaneously quite straightforward.
