Chordify proudly presents The Village Sessions, featuring celebrated bands like The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Blood Red Shoes (picture) and Jungle By Night, as well as promising newbies like Soldier’s Heart from Belgium and Oakland Rain from Norway (Photography: Ruben van Vliet). 19862634145_9e64d9bfc1_z_620x400 The Village Sessions are intimate live recordings of bands participating in the Welcome to The Village Festival. This year, we introduced our friends from IDK Sessions to record nine songs live in carefully picked locations on the festival terrain. Some were amplified while others were fully acoustic. Some permitted a real audience to attend and others took place on the outskirts of the temporary village with just some passers-by. These sessions were recorded for the home happy figures and for all the peeps that are homesick for Welcome To The Village already. We hope to see you again next year! Enjoy! Jungle By Night – El Miraglo A nine-piece powerhouse evolved from American and Nigerian roots, folding in the beats and fierce attitudes of funk, hip-hop and EDM, guided by the wild soul of jazz and the raw energy of rock. A party for the ears! Byron Bay – God Only Knows ‘God Only Knows’ is the first single of Belgian electronic folk-pop band Byron Bay. Rats On Rafts – 1-6-8 (Machine) The band swear spiritual allegiance to Rotterdam’s new wave, pop and punk scenes with one proviso: the weirder the better. These guys rock. Loudest IDK Session ever! The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – Simple and Sure An American indie pop band from New York City, formed in 2007. So nice that they were able to do this acoustic version the day after their show. Thanks again! Oakland Rain – Shotgun These redheaded twins from Norway play folk pop inspired by their time living in California. Blood Red Shoes – Lost Kids We assume that this alternative rock duo from Brighton don’t really need an introduction. However, this acoustic version is very different! Soldier’s Heart – Ears And Eyes Belgian crew that has won several prestigious awards and gained many new fans with their dreamy aesthetic and absurdly catchy pop songs. Makes you desire for cheese onion chips. Captain Casanova (Rasmus) – If You Come Around Here This catchy rock song and the Captain’s love for playing is what reminds us somewhat of Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged recordings! The Gospel Sessions – There’s A Light Gospel music reinvented with lovely but powerful vocals by Michelle David. Amen.
