When it comes to the 10 top songs that were most played on Chordify during July, you might suspect the list would be full of happy summer campfire fiddles. Think again. Last month our community showed how eclectic their taste is, from movie themes to the Filipino rap tunes of Lo Ki. Enjoy!

Filipino rapper Lo Ki dominates top 10

When we say Lo Ki you say… “Thor?” Yeah, but no. Our number one most played track of July is “Kagome” by the Filipino rapper Lo Ki. The song is about the struggles of moving on after a breakup, and it went viral on TikTok after a lip sync challenge.

While everyone was lip syncing on the Chinese social video app, the track got more than 30 million streams on YouTube too, and we see a lot of people from our community jamming along with the four chord piano progression. Once you hear it, you’ll know why. Check it out for yourself.

Graduation songs

Another song that ranks way up there is “Follow the Stars” by Aiko Akiko Morita. Does this come as a surprise to you? It kind of did to us, but then we realized that July is all about graduation, growing up, and exploring the future of young adult life after middle school.

Taking all those things into account, it does feel logical that this graduation song is topping our chart after Lo Ki’s “Kagome”.  The piano tune has something epic about it, so why don’t you try to jam along?

Garden full of flowers

If our top 10 songs are flowers, and this list is the garden, then we have some seasonal beauties and some evergreens that are always there to comfort us. “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M. is one of those all-timers. Sometimes the songs seem to disappear for a while, but they always bloom again sooner or later.

Kate Bush’s “Running up That Hill”, “Ghost” by Justin Bieber, and Imagine Dragons’ “Enemy” are still coloring our garden. Will they ever become all season flowers? Who knows, only time will tell. Until then, just go with the flow and play along.
