Indo rock keeps moving on up

After The Cloves and the Tobacco featured at number 5 in last month’s top 10, the Indonesian rockers have now reached the top spot this month with their track Biarkan Berlari. This is a high energy celtic punk rock song, and with the catchy melodies it’s easy to see how it’s so popular with the Chordify community.

The other Indonesian band who featured at number 9 last month have moved up to number 5. This is MCPR with their track Rayakan Pertemanan. Whilst not featuring as much of a punk element to the sound, it’s another high energy rock track which is great fun for jamming to. These tracks also feature quite simple chord progressions which make them ideal for all levels of musician to try out.

Eclectic new entries

There’s two new artists in the top 10 this month – at number 6 is Shad and their track I Like You The Most. This is a song that has gained a lot of traction on TikTok, featuring catchy vocal melodies and strong chorus hooks. It is constructed with quite a basic pop arrangement, but this does include some interesting chords which will provide a nice challenge for the intermediate and more advanced players. If you’re a beginner, you might find the simplify option on Chordify helps make these chords more manageable. Check out I Like You The Most here.

The other new entry at number 10 is Kuana Torres Kahele with his track Waikahuli. Kahele is from Hawaii and as is typical with the majority of his lyrics, Waikahuli is written and performed in the Hawaiian language.

The track is quite a change of pace from the majority of tracks in the top 10 – it’s a peaceful, acoustic ballad featuring soft vocal melodies and warm group harmonies. There’s some nice chords in the progression, including a good test with the A/C♯ chord. The track also includes a lot of space in between the different passages which can provide opportunities to try improvisation. Listen to the song here and try it out!
