Little Bitty Pretty One – Thurston Harris

“Little Bitty Pretty One” by Thurston Harris is the perfect song to kickstart your day. With its funky beat, naughty vibes and just three chords, this is a true gem. ‘Cause let’s be practical here, if you want to have an awesome day, you need to have an epic jam and since most epic jams come from pure simplicity… You know this track will make you go Mmmmm…

Mmmm Song – Emily Whelan

The three “Little Bitty Pretty One” chords were just a warm up. Yeah, you need to challenge yourself from time to time. That’s what we’re aiming at with Make More Music March. It really is all about finding your balance between relaxation and improvement while having fun. That’s why the “Mmmm Song” by Emily Whelan is a nice fiddle to get your chords flowing.

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm – Crash Test Dummies

Now, this is a real classic. When  “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” by the Crash Test Dummies was released in 1993, it crushed its way through the charts, reaching the top spot where it stayed for a while. Does it sound nice, warm, and easy going? Yes, it does. Does that make it a perfect springtime song? Probably, yes.

So that most likely means it’s pretty easy to jam, right? Mmmm… Maybe not so much. The chord progression is pretty challenging, especially combined with the pass in which you have to switch from chord to chord. Should you skip this track because of this? No way!

Things That Make You Go Hmmm – C+C Music Factory

Let’s get funky, shall we? With Spring in our hearts, “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm” by C+C Music Factory is the way to go. This funky tune will require you to ask your sister if she can do the rap part when you “Mmmmm…” the chorus, but trust us: It will totally be worth it at the family BBQ.

You won’t be the only one humming the chorus. By the way, here’s a tip: Transpose the song to Em instead of Emb. This will make the chords way easier to play, especially if you jam on guitar or piano.

Mmmbop – Hanson

We started with a three chord song, so why not end with one? “Mmmbop” by the Hanson brothers contains the A chord, the E chord, and the D chord. Let’s be honest, even if you are just getting started you have absolutely no excuse not to play along with this 90s skater boy classic. The tune is so contagious that even your grumpy uncle will start whistling it long after you’ve stopped playing. Try it out, and enjoy Mmmm… Make More Music March. Happy jamming!
