As 2022 came to a flying close, let’s take a look back at the top 10 most played songs over the last month of the year. As expected, we had some familiar Christmas hits enter the top 10 over December, along with some interesting new entries. Check it out and get inspired for the new year.

Indonesian popularity continues with newcomers The Jansen
There’s been a variety of Indonesian artists entering the top 10 list over the last few months, with Nanoe Biroe in November, and Rub of Rub who have been in the list consistently since August – this month they’re at number 9. Now it’s time for another newcomer! The Jansen enter at number 1 with their track ‘Kau Pemeran Utama Di Sebuah Opera’.
This is an upbeat rock track full of energy and catchy melodies – there’s some great open chords for guitar in the progression, so it’s easy to see why it’s got so popular. Check this song out and crank up the volume!
Reggae vibes enter the top 10
The reggae sounds of Halamana by Herbal Na Utan is another new entry, coming in at number 2. This song has a nice laid back groove to it, and with only two chords, it’s a great track for beginners, and maybe for the more advanced players you can try some improvisation over the chord progression to give it your own spin. It’s another good example of less is more, particularly with the vocal melodies which will stay in your head alongside the chords – this is a fun track to jam along with.
Mariah, The Eagles and Wham!
As we’re looking at the top 10 songs of December, of course Mariah Carey is in there – and who can blame you? It’s a quintessential Christmas track, and alongside Wham! and The Eagles, the Chordify community racked up the festive hits to celebrate the holidays. It just wouldn’t feel like December without these songs!
The community mainstays
There’s certain tracks that just don’t get old, and that’s why R.E.M. and Amy Winehouse find themselves in this month’s list again. We’ve probably said all there is to say about these songs by now, but they’re undoubtedly classics, and we can understand why their popularity remains.
Harry Styles is also back in the top 10 – he returns with the same track for the first time since May. There’s a nice mix of genres this month, and you can check out some electro pop vibes in his track ‘As It Was’.
