Flowers in vogue

Miley Cyrus’ much anticipated eighth studio album will be released in March, and the lead single Flowers has been well received amongst the Chordify community, hitting number 1 in the top 10 songs of February. It was released in January, but has climbed up our chart this month.

The popularity is understandable when you check the track out – there’s great vocal melodies and uplifting hooks, alongside quite a simple chord progression. This means it falls into the categories of being a memorable song whilst also having accessible difficulty levels, so it may well inspire you to start jamming.

The instrumentation is quite sparse with soft synths, soaring string lines in the chorus and a disco groove driven by the bass line; it’s quite reminiscent of 90’s era pop tracks. Have a listen here and see what all the fuss is about.

Legendary additions

After Johnny Cash’s entry in January, which moved to number 8 this month, this was followed up by tracks from The Eagles and The Beatles in the top 10 songs of February. Sometimes it’s nice to turn to a memorable track when you want to start playing, and there are two legendary additions that were certainly popular with the Chordify community in the form of Hotel California and Hey Jude. Two absolutely mammoth jams – what more can you say about these classic tracks?

Hey Jude has one of the most iconic vocal melody lines ever, which features minimal lyrics – that’s how you know you’ve hit gold with songwriting. Get your friends and family together and belt out a rendition; everyone will be singing along with the chorus.

The Beatles

Similarly, Hotel California is packed full of earworms and memorable vocal lines. It also features some interesting chords so it’s a nice track for beginners to add to their vocabulary.
