This weekend, all eyes were on the Ukrainian capital Kiev, for the 62th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Portugal has won and will be the host of the Eurovision Song Contest next year. All the winning songs of previous editions are here for you to play along with!

Winner 2017: Portugal

Salvador Sobral – Amar Pelos Dois

“Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1964, represented by Antonio Calvario with the song Oração. The closest Portugal ever came to winning the contest was in 1996, when Lúcia Moniz finished 6th.”

Winner 2016: Ukraine

Jamala – 1944

“The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest was held in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. It was the third time that Stockholm hosted the contest. Ukraine’s Jamala won the contest with her song 1944, providing Ukraine with its second victory in the Eurovision Song Contest.” 

Winner 2015: Sweden

Måns Zelmerlöw – Heroes

“In order to mark the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, Australia was invited to take part in the Grand Final for the very first time achieving a respectable 5th place. The winner was Måns Zermelöw with his song Heroes providing Sweden with its sixth victory in the Eurovision Song Contest.” 

Winner 2014: Austria

Conchita Wurst – Rise like a phoenix

“Austria won the 2014 contest with Rise Like A Phoenix, performed by bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst. Immediately after her victory Conchita became a household name. The Netherlands finished in second place with Calm After The Storm performed by The Common Linnets, which became a big hit following the contest.”
