Congratulations! Today is International Women’s Day, the day we celebrate femininity. As far as we’re concerned, it’s men-women’s day every day, but of course we don’t want to rain on this parade. That is why we have listed four strong women both in the pop industry and on the big screen.

Jam along with the songs of these divas who dare to leave their comfort zone and pursue a career besides pop music. After all, it’s one thing to be a pop star and something completely different when you make an appearance in the not-so-female-friendly world of Hollywood. They do it all four and they do it with verve.

Cher

The Goddess of Pop, Cher, is 73 years old. She certainly doesn’t look like that, but that is a completely different story. Her career in the music industry started in 1963 when she recorded an album with her then-husband Sonny Bono. After her first solo album in 1966 – “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” – the beast was loose.

This true diva made her first appearance on the big screen in the eighties. She plays in “The Witches of Eastwick” and “Moonstruck”, among others. She was awarded an Oscar for best actress for the latter. One of her last films, in which she shows her full glory as a pop star, is “Burlesque” (2010). Grab your guitar and jam along with this exciting song.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is a natural showbusiness woman. She has a full-fledged film career as well as an awesome oeuvre of tracks. Her very first song “If You Had My Love” is a three-times platinum record. If you have to believe her latest songs, all she does is think about the “Dinero.”

What many may not know is that the pop star started her career on the big screen and not on MTV. Her debut in Hollywood starts in 1986 with “My Little Girl.” This pop diva can also be seen in the horror films “Anaconda” and “The Cell.”

Whitney Houston

When you think of virtuosa divas, Whitney Houston is someone that comes to mind pretty quickly. This singer and actress is still the queen, as she holds the record for most award-winning star, according to the Guinness Book of Records. Her hits are countless, as is the range of her voice.

One of her most famous roles is in the film “The Bodyguard,” in which she shines together with actor Kevin Costner. The song “I’ll Always Love You” is the soundtrack to this blockbuster. The trick in jamming along with this song is not so much playing the guitar part, but doing the singing as you might suspect.

Miley Cyrus

Child star Miley Cyrus comes from a family in which country music and television have been spoon-fed since they were little. As a child, the young Miley plays in the television series “Hannah Montana” which is broadcasted on the Disney Channel. Her debut album “Meet Miley Cyrus” (2007) goes straight to number one, just like the albums that follow: “Breakout” (2008) and “Bangerz” (2013).

However, the pop star is also inseparable from the big screen. In 2010 she plays in the romantic film “The Last Song” for which she also writes the title song: “When I look at You.” A true power woman. We end our list with Miley Cyrus, but there are many strong women out there. Let’s celebrate them all today and every day. Happy jamming!
