Aldi Haqq hits the top spot

Landing the number 1 position in the top 10 songs of the month with his first ever entry is Indonesian artist Aldi Haqq. His track Peak of Love has been a big hit on TikTok and also amassed over 2m streams on Spotify. Initially written by Haqq in 2021, the track was released in November 2023.

The song is a melancholic, romantic themed ballad with a strong piano chord progression and tasteful string arrangement. There’s a nice variety of chords throughout the track and it should provide a challenge for beginners. Listen to Peak of Love here.

New entries from around the world

There’s an exciting new mixture of tracks from different countries, and when we can highlight a range of artists from varying backgrounds this always makes for an interesting top 10.

Alongside Aldi Haqq, there’s another Indonesian entry this month in the shape of MCPR, with their track Rayakan Pertemanan. This is a high energy rock track, a sound which has been growing in Indonesia over recent years. You can hear the influence of bands like Green Day and Blink 182, with a fast tempo, driving drums and distorted guitars. There’s a lot of power chords in the progression, and the energy of the track provides a fun atmosphere to jam along with.

Reaching number 2 in this month’s top 10 with his first entry is Turkish songwriter Anıl Emre Daldal. The track B. has a relaxed, dreamy atmosphere throughout, with a descending chord progression and synthesizer melody adding melancholic dimensions to the sound. In addition to jamming along with the chords, it makes for a beautiful progression to practice some lead playing too.

Brazilian artist Willian is another first time entry in this month’s top 10, with his track Sol. This song has a nice reggae vibe with an upbeat energy from the busy vocal melodies and harmonies. There’s only 3 chords in the song so it’s one that might be more suited to beginners, though more experienced players could try a mixture of jamming the chords and improvising over the progression.

Familiar favorites return

Amongst the new entries in this month’s top 10 songs, there’s still space for those evergreen classics which are consistently popular with the Chordify community. Miley Cyrus is in there of course, with the most played track on Chordify in 2023, Flowers. R.E.M. return with Losing my Religion, another track which was ever present in the monthly top 10 lists last year, along with Daniel Caesar’s Best Part.

Tom Waits also enters the top 10 for the first time with Blind Love, a laid back americana rock song featuring the Rolling Stones’s Keith Richards. With Waits’ unmistakable gravelly vocals behind the laid back americana rock groove, this track is quite a different vibe from the rest of the top 10. It provides a welcome change of pace, and there’s only 5 chords involved, including some barre chords which provide good practice for upcoming guitarists. Check it out here.
